Outline

The winter session will run from January 24th to February 28th. Through this comprehensive program, participants will learn about the safety, technical and physical aspects of indoor bouldering. They will:

  • Gain knowledge of the basic movements and techniques used in bouldering and
    learn how to climb more efficiently

  • Learn the terminology (i.e. climbing holds, foot/hand positions, body positions,
    etc.)

  • Learn how to solve boulder problems and visualize sequences.

  • Be introduced to basic components of age appropriate climbing training (i.e. warm-up, cool-
    down, injury prevention)

  • Learn how to be safe on the wall with awareness of climbing etiquette.

  • Improve fitness, stamina and flexibility.

*(For non-members, includes access to the gym for the rest of that day for free)

Required Equipment

  • Climbing shoes are required and can be purchased at MEC or other outdoor sports store. You can also buy used on Kijiji. Klimat can also provide rental shoes for a fee of $20 for the eight week program.

  • Participants should wear non-restrictive clothing and please remove jewelry before training and/or climbing sessions
